Shawn and Karl completed 40 miles in 9 hours 30 minutes - through the night.

Here's a huge well done to Karl Moreton and Shawn Rhodes, from Grimsby, who completed the Grim Reaper Ultra Marathon on July 29 in the grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle, Bourne.

They ran the 40-mile looped route non-stop throughout the night on a mixture of limestone, tarmac and field trails, and finished in nine hours and 30 minutes.

Karl is a prolific runner who has wanted to complete an ultra marathon for some time. Having recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (symptoms include chronic fatigue widespread joint and muscular pain), he has used this as a driver to prove he can still complete this goal.

Shawn had no previous distance running experience and wanted to complete the challenge to raise donations for St Andrew’s Hospice, who provided specialist care for his sister, Julie, during her short battle against cancer in 2014.

So far, the pair have raised more than £450. There is still time to support them by clicking here.
