Today marks the start of national Volunteers' Week.
"You make a difference!"
That's the message to volunteers as part of this year's nationwide Volunteers' Week.
It begins today and ends on June 7, and has been organised by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NVCO).
Here at the hospice, there are 510 volunteers who work in all aspects of what we do... from out in the shops to chatting with patients.
This year's campaign focuses on this message: "You make the difference", and it couldn't be truer for us. St Andrew's wouldn't exist without their support... it's as simple as that, and although we always like to say thanks, this week is especially for them.
We're also calling on YOU to think about what you can do to make a difference.
An NVCO spokesperson said: "We are passionate about how people can take positive action to make a difference to a cause they care about through volunteering.
"This is a powerful and important message for times when we may not feel empowered or able to change things for the better. Through volunteering we can make the difference; to individuals and communities every day from improving the environment we live in, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to a range of other essential services and support."
So this week, we hope we will inspire you to find out more about opportunities at St Andrew's, take part and try volunteering for the first time. You can view our current volunteering vacancies here.
And don't forget to share your experiences of volunteering with us. Email us here, or post a message on our social media channels... and help make a difference!
