From creative writing to expressive arts... you can help the hospice.

We are currently seeking volunteers to support therapeutic activities within the hospice, specifically for the following activities:

Afternoon chair based tea dance / chair based exercise (Mon & Thurs pm)

Do you have experience of chair based exercise or some basic ballroom dance knowledge to support a fun group doing chair based exercises to waltz, salsa and tango rhythms?

Creative writing (Tuesday mornings)

Could you inspire a group of patients to explore writing poetry/prose for creative expression?

Baking/basic cookery skills (Wednesday afternoons)

Would you enjoy sharing your basic cooking skills to enable others and also support our reminiscence baking sessions?

Garden club (Mon am, Thurs pm and on other days on drop in basis to maintain during summer months)

Do you have basic gardening skills, particularly experience of growing vegetables that you would enjoy sharing, whilst assisting patients to maintain vegetable beds and a greenhouse?

Expressive arts  (Thursday mornings)

Are you someone with a passion for arts, who has dabbled with most forms of art making and enjoy sharing your skills and enthusiasm with others then our expressive arts club are looking for someone just like you.  All art forms including watercolour, acrylics, collage, pastel and pencil drawing, print making etc

Craft workshops (Monday afternoons)

Are you creative with plenty of practical skills that you would be confident to share?  Our craft workshops need volunteers who would be willing to turn their hands to most forms of paper/fabric/clay based craft work, and who would enthuse and enable patients to explore their own creativity in creating legacies.  Experience of decoupage, paper crafts, working with fabrics, simple clay modelling, glass decorating, collage, journal making and such like, along with basic drawing skills would be ideal.

Board games (Friday afternoons)

If you would enjoy providing an opportunity and enabling others to participate in a good board quiz, game of scrabble or dominoes within a social group setting then our games club on Friday afternoons needs someone just like you!
