Strictly Come Dancing began tonight, and Joanne Clifton hot-stepped it to the top of the leaderboard.

Strictly Come Dancing has returned for the 16th series tonight, and Grimsby's Joanne Clifton finished joint top of the leaderboard.

Jo, an official ambassador for St Andrew's, performed with TV presenter Ore Oduba, picking up 27 points from the judges for a tango to Geronimo by Shepherd.

Olympian Greg Rutherford also got 27 points for his jive, putting Greg and Ore at the top.

It's a flying start for our Joanne and Ore, and a success for the TV show itself - 10 million viewers tuned in to watch, trouncing the X Factor and making Strictly the nation's favourite programme.

Joanne was appointed the hospice's ambassador early last year. Throughout the series of Strictly, we will be monitoring her progress on Saturday and Sunday nights on our social media channels: www.facebook.com/standrewshospice and @helpstandrews on Twitter. We hope you can join us in supporting her... keeeep dancing!
