Over 160 fundraisers braved Halloween’s spookiest event on Saturday 28 October when they took to Chambers Farm Wood, near Wragby in Lincolnshire for Scare Fest, in support of Andy’s at St Andrew’s Hospice.

Volunteers donned their scariest costumes ready to greet those who tackled the 3.5-kilometere trek around the woods.

By day, Chambers Farm Wood is one of Lincolnshire’s prettiest beauty spots but, as soon as darkness descended on a cold October night, the blood curdling screams and spine-chilling laughter echoed around the treetops.

Lesley Charlesworth-Browne is St Andrew’s Hospice’s Director of Business Development and she spoke of her delight at the event’s popularity.

She said: “Scare Fest has been an amazing success.

“We have had four times as many people as last year, so it has really captured the public imagination.

“The volunteers’ outfits were amazing and they certainly did their job scaring everyone who took part – there was plenty of screaming coming from the woods.

“We are looking for more volunteers to get involved with St Andrew’s Hospice events and urge anyone interested to get in touch.”

Theresa Crowe is part of the fundraising team at St Andrew’s Hospice and she pledged thanks to all the individuals and companies that supported Scare Fest.

“There are so many things that go into making an event like Scare Fest run successfully,” she said.

“We would just like to thank everyone that contributed to the event.

“From being a ‘scarer’, to promoting the event, donating or setting up props, registering participants, taking photos etc. – we could have not done it without that support.”

St Andrew’s Hospice would also like to thank Lincs FM for their support in promoting Scare Fest, as well as sending their Street Team along on the night to speak to participants.
