Supporters of St Andrew’s Hospice in Grimsby got quizzical to raise funds for the charity at a special quiz night held in November.

The evening was the first quiz night held in Appetite – the restaurant at the hospice on Peaks Lane in Grimsby – with funds going to assist with the organisation’s £4.8-million running costs.

A sell-out crowd of over 80 people, in teams of no more than six, pitted their wits against the quiz master, tackling three rounds of questions on general knowledge, sport and entertainment, as well as an I’m A Celebrity themed picture round.

Participants were also treated to a pie and pea supper, as well as a raffle with fantastic prizes, such as bottles of wine and chocolate.

Jonathan Byrne is Communications Manager at St Andrew’s Hospice and was also quizmaster on the evening.

He said: “There were some very serious quizzers amongst the audience.

“I hope that everyone had a good time and the questions weren’t too hard or too easy!

“It was great to see the first quiz full and everyone seemed to enjoy the pie and peas on offer.

“Hopefully we will be holding more quizzes in the future, although I will have to think of a whole range of new questions first!”

Linda Mikkelsen was part of the winning team on the evening, who went away with a prize hamper and she spoke of her enjoyment of the event.

She added: “Well done to everyone involved in organising the quiz and pie and pea supper at St Andrew’s Hospice.

“It was a brilliant night and we hope that there are many more in the future.”
