How it works
Should you have a specific item or items to donate such as a sofa or a sideboard these will generally be collected free of charge if they are in a suitable condition to sell through our shops. You can enquire about this service by calling 01472 241972.
A house clearance would be for whole or significant house contents which may include items not suitable for sale that would need to be taken away and either recycled or disposed of. Depending on the number of such items the charge can vary and we will always quote in advance of undertaking the work.
Organising a house clearance with us is quick and easy. Follow the step-by-step instructions below and we’ll make arrangements for a stress-free collection of your household items. Here’s how it all works:
- Call us on 01472 211300 to arrange a collection at a convenient time to suit you. They will ask you questions about what items you have that need to be removed and their condition, to help us work out if there is a cost for the clearance. They will also be happy to answer all of your questions whilst on the phone.
- Our collection drivers will come to your property at the arranged time, and follow our Covid-secure processes (such as maintaining social distance and using hand sanitiser) to keep everyone safe.
- Your pre-loved items will either be sold in our charity shops or recycled in other ways. If we are unable to sell or recycle your items, we will make sure they are disposed of safely and legally
Your preloved items make a difference
When you arrange a house clearance with St Andrew’s Hospice, you know that your items will, where possible, be sold to another family. Not only does this make furniture affordable for more people in our community, it also contributes towards the cost of providing hospice care.
For this reason, we will ask whether you would like to sign a Gift Aid declaration, allowing us to claim 25% more from the government against the income from your items, at no extra cost to you. You can download this here and complete it in advance if you would like.
