Our Supporters – Local lady knits up a storm

Local Cleethorpes lady, Carolyn has been busy during making crocheted soft toys, blankets, basket carriers and cushion covers.

Carolyn normally offers crocheting classes at ‘A Good Yarn’ in Cleethorpes but decided to put her time to good use making items we could sell via our shops and other fundraising activities.

Carolyn also donated £100.00 in memory of her late husband Andrew who spent his final days with St. Andrew’s in 2016.

Speaking about her late husband and the care he received at St Andrew’s Hospice, Carolyn said,

‘Andrew was one of those fit and healthy people until he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He was initially scheduled to come in for a little respite treatment, but once he arrived it was as though he’d decided this was the place he wanted to ‘go’ and he somehow gave up fighting the inevitable. He was very happy in his final days and for that I will always be grateful. I wanted to give a little back to ensure others can benefit in the same way my husband did as I can appreciate just how difficult it has been just lately.’

Support of this kind really makes a difference. It helps us to provide much needed care to our patients with life-limiting illnesses and support for their family members.
