Lymphoedema care in Grimsby
Our specialist Lymphoedema Care Service provides advice, support and treatment for patients who have secondary lymphoedema related to a cancer diagnosis or progressive life-limiting disease. Treatment is provided as an outpatient but on occasions admission to the inpatient unit may be more beneficial if intensive treatment is required.
The treatment we offer is aimed at reducing the swelling that occurs when the lymphatic system has been compromised. We also provide the support you will need to be able to manage the condition yourself, on a long-term basis.
Being referred to our Lymphoedema Care
Anyone can refer into the Lymphoedema Care Service, including yourself or, with your consent, a family member, GP or health professional. Referrals can be made by ringing the hospice on 01472 571277 or by using the form at the bottom of this page. If a member of the team is not available to answer your call, please leave a message and they will get back to you.
In order to make the referral process as effective as possible, it is essential that the information provided on referral is accurate and up to date and includes the identified reason for referral and the current problems requiring lymphoedema care.
On joining the service, you will have an initial assessment with a Specialist Lymphoedema Nurse and a treatment plan will be put in place to make sure you get the therapy best suited to your individual needs, to minimise the symptoms you are currently experiencing and to enable long-term self-management of the condition.
