Edwina Andrews (Branch Manager) and Lynne Standley (Assistant Manager) of Thomas Cook Grimsby Travel Agents represented Thomas Cook Children’s Charity who donated a substantial amount of money to St Andrew’s Hospice. The donation was made in aid of Andy’s, our children’s unit within the hospice at the site on Peaks Lane in Grimsby. That donation will be put towards the renovation of the children’s unit garden.
The garden within the children’s unit in St Andrew’s is badly in need of renovation, to make the gardens accessible for all children who come to Andy’s. With donations such as the one received from Thomas Cook Children’s Charity, we will be able to start creating a brand new space in the garden to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for the children at the hospice.
St Andrew’s is one of only a handful of hospices nationally who run both adult and children’s services on the same site. It costs £5.5-million a year to run, and only a small percentage of that is granted by statutory bodies.
Andy’s looks after children and young people from birth to the age of 25 with any progressive life-limiting illness. They travel from around the entire Lincolnshire area, as well as Hull and East Yorkshire, to access its free palliative care, either for respite or as an in-patient.
The whole project will cost in excess of £40,000 so if you would like to help with this renovation by donating outdoor play equipment, materials, your time or cash then please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
