North East Lincolnshire Council's chief executive is taking on the first of three challenges today.
The chief executive of North East Lincolnshire Council, Rob Walsh, is taking on a running challenge in aid of the hospice and two other charities.
Mr Walsh, a keen runner, will be attempting to complete three gruelling long distance runs this month.
The first takes place today, the Lincoln half-marathon, and he's following this up by participating in the Yorkshire full marathon and Gruesome Twosome off-road half-marathon on consecutive Sundays.
All proceeds raised will go to the Mayor’s chosen charities - the Nidd Diabetes Fund and Cat Zero - and St Andrew's Hospice.
Reflecting on the monumental challenge, Mr Walsh said: “It’s 52 miles, multi-terrain and lots of pain.
“If we could reach £1,000 and surpass last years’ total of £620, that would be fantastic.”
