With sold out performances for every show, Joanne ended the show with her co-stars to announce to the audience that they would be doing a collection for St Andrew’s Hospice.
St Andrew’s Hospice ambassador and former Strictly star, Joanne Clifton collected for the hospice at her final countdown of her Flashdance: The Musical tour, in which she played Alex Owens. She has been starring in the stage musical after she announced she was leaving the Strictly Come Dancing to pursue her childhood dream of being on the stage after her win on the show with her dance partner, Ore Oduba.
Flashdance: The Musical is based on the Paramount Pictures film and tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex, a welder by day and ‘flashdancer’ by night, who dreams of going to the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy and becoming a professional dancer. When a romance complicates her ambitions, she harnesses it to drive her dream. It’s an inspiring musical about the power of holding onto your dreams and love against all the odds.
Joanne became a hospice ambassador in 2015 and as a Grimsby girl at heart; she is always finding ways to give back to the charity. The tour of Flashdance: The Musical ended in her hometown at Grimsby Auditorium and finished with an incredible 7 shows over 5 days. With sold out performances for every show, Joanne ended the show with her co-stars to announce to the audience that they would be doing a collection for St Andrew’s Hospice.

With the generosity of the public and the fans, Joanne and her co-stars raised an incredible £5,300 for St Andrew’s and continued to support the charity when she visited the hospice this week to present the donation.
She took time out on her birthday to visit the hospice and meet some fans of Strictly. Joanne met with Lily and Ethan, who are patients in the children’s unit of Andy’s at the hospice and surprised patients, carers and staff who had seen the musical and who enjoy watching her and her brother, Kevin dance on Strictly Come Dancing.

Joanne will be taking to the stage once again as the leading lady, Janet, in a national tour of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The long-running musical favourite will also star Duncan James from Blue, West End star, Stephen Web and A1’s Ben Adams, who has been starring alongside Joanne in the UK tour of Flashdance. Grimsby isn’t currently on the list of tour dates, however, with popular demand, it’s not yet known whether more dates will be added.
