Hopeful hairdressers and budding beauticians are wanted for a new hair studio opening at St Andrew’s Hospice in Grimsby.

The Retreat Hair Studio is the latest addition to the hospice’s range of facilities that are open to both patients and the general public, which also includes the Appetite restaurant and a gift shop on the Peaks Lane site.

Opening on Monday 26 March, staff at the hospice are looking for volunteers to help provide some of the hairdressing and nail services in the studio.

Prospective volunteers are invited to a special open day on Wednesday 28 February, where they will get the opportunity to have a sneak peek at the studio and also meet staff from the hospice.

Nicki Chaplin is the manager of the Retreat Hair Studio and she is looking forward to meeting potential volunteers on the day.

She said: “We’re looking for people who like making others feel good and are able to make people sparkle.

“If you think you have what it takes to volunteer within a busy hairdressing studio then I would urge you to come along and find out what is involved in offering your expertise and skills within St Andrew’s Hospice.”

The charity will hold three drop-in sessions on Wednesday 28 February:

10am-11.30am
1pm-2.30pm
5.30pm-7.30pm

Nicki will meet attendees at the Hospice’s main reception and then give an information session around what is involved in bring a volunteer within a hair studio.

“We would love to see lots of people down at the studio,” continued Nicki.

“Please feel free to ask any questions and see if this is the opportunity for you.”
