Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are keeping a close eye on Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates and advice from the Government and Public Health to make sure our actions follow current guidance to protect the health and wellbeing of our whole community, from our patients and their families, to our workforce and suppliers. We have undertaken a Covid-19 Risk Assessment to maintain a safe workplace for our staff and volunteers and to meet our duty of care in the wider community, including our patients and their families.

Our community is at the centre of everything we do. Our priority is, and will remain, protecting everyone involved in the hospice whilst providing care for those in need of our services.

In light of recent changes to Government guidance we have further updated our practices:

Adult In-Patients

Our adult inpatient unit remains open as normal. We are also continuing to provide care to those in need of treatment to manage their symptoms, where they have tried and are unable to achieve a satisfactory level of comfort at home.

Wellbeing Patients

All of our wellbeing groups are postponed until further notice. This applies to all of the services listed below:

  • Complementary therapies
  • Salon services
  • Assisted bathing
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Social groups
  • Creativity
  • Lymphoedema
  • Physiotherapy

We are currently working with our wellbeing patients to create a service that will be valuable to them throughout this time.

Children’s Services

We are still offering respite stays to provide support for the most vulnerable of our young patients and their families.

Our day services are cancelled until further notice.

Patients are able to receive two visitors at a time, throughout the day.

Visitors to the site for other reasons (eg contractors) must have a confirmed meeting time, and that member of staff will meet you at reception.

All visitors will have their temperature taken at reception and asked a series of screening questions before being admitted to the site. Visitors will be asked to wash their hands or use hand gel either in reception or upon arrival at the unit (when visiting a patient).

Events and fundraising

Unfortunately we have had to make the decision to cancel all hospice events for the foreseeable future.

Please keep watch on our social media channels for news of our virtual fundraisers.

We have started the phased reopening of our stores, for shopping and donations.

Currently our Wilton Road Donation Centre and Furniture Store on Grimsby Road have reopened. For further details of our shops’ current arrangements, please click this link

The Retreat

The Retreat Hair Studio is now open. All appointments must be booked in advance by phoning 01472 350908. We are not offering nail services or complementary therapy appointments at this time.

Staff and volunteers

Our staff and volunteers are our most precious resource and vital to ensuring we can continue to care for our patients and the wider community. We have individually assessed every member of our workforce based at the hospice site are making every effort to find ways of working that protect everyone’s health and wellbeing, whilst enabling them to continue to do the fantastic work they do. We are also assessing all team members who continue to work in our shops.

We would like to thank every member of our workforce for the support they are showing to the hospice, our patients and each other at this time.

Can you help us?
