Holistic Complementary Therapies

At St Andrew’s Hospice, we aim to provide the very best in compassionate care to all in our local community. We offer a range of holistic complementary therapies to our patients, their families and the public. Our 60 minute sessions will help reduce tension, detox your brain and body and ultimately give you the quality time to yourself to relax and rejuvenate.

All of our therapists are trained and qualified in the treatment they are providing. Holistic complementary therapies work by helping to restore balance and can also help emotionally, physically and spiritually. This is known as holistic care. They help a person relax and create a feeling of wellbeing and can help ease symptoms such as pain, nausea and poor sleep patterns, help to reduce fear, depression and anxiety and improve circulation. These therapies also bring about a state of wholeness, peace, and promote relaxation.

Holistic Complementary Therapies we provide:

A therapy which originated in Japan and translates as universal (rei) and energy (ki). During the session, you remain fully clothed and in a comfortable position. Reiki is a good choice if you are looking for a deep relaxation therapy, promoting a sense of peace and wellbeing. The therapist works by placing their hands on or over the body, many have found this therapy a deep, uplifting and peaceful experience.

Target Specific Massage

Massage therapy aims to relax your mind and body by putting different pressure points on your muscles. Massage can help to stimulate your circulation, relax your core muscles, help you to cope with stress, anxiety and relieve pain. Sometimes you may also see improvements in your mood, sleep pattern, mobility and overall wellbeing.

Indian Head Massage

An Indian Head Massage will help to release stress accumulated over time in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. Our therapist will gently stimulate and stroke pressure points to help relieve tension, stress, headaches and fatigue. This experience is deeply calming and will leave you feeling revitalised.

All of the above treatments are priced at £25 for a session. If you would like more information or to book an appointment then please call 01472 350908 and ask for extension 301, where you can leave a message and Zoe or Sue will call you back to discuss your needs and book an appointment.

The Retreat is the hidden gem of St Andrew’s Hospice. A relaxing and friendly place for our in-patients, out-patients and the public to relax and rejuvenate with a complementary or holistic therapy service.

Why visit us?

  • Safe – Only ever one client in at a time.
  • Appointments – Booking by appointment only.
  • Infection Control – All staff are trained in infection control.
  • Professional team –We are a team of professionals, experienced in working with complex emotional, mental and physical needs.

Because we have the advantage of being within such a building as St Andrew’s, we can adapt the therapy rooms to accommodate our client’s needs. As The Retreat is all on one level this makes access for wheelchairs and large medical equipment suitable. We can also close blinds and doors to make the space darker and more private for our clientele that feel intimidated and vulnerable in a conventional environment.

To have a service within The Retreat you are required to take a Lateral Flow Test on the day of the appointment and bring evidence of the negative result.
