As one of the local leading providers of palliative and end of life care, St Andrew’s Hospice is a highly successful and forward-thinking charity with a turnover of c£5m, offering both adult and children’s services. With an excellent reputation both in the local community and beyond, we reach over 600 patients and their families in North East Lincolnshire and our wider catchment area of Lincolnshire, Hull and East Yorkshire for our children’s services.  In addition, our purpose built hospice houses a growing community hub which offers practical and holistic support through specialist clinics, bereavement support services, carer groups and complementary therapies to outpatients as well as being open to the local community.

 

We are seeking up to four new Trustee Directors to join our existing board. All candidates who are able to offer time, energy, and feel confident supporting the charity at a strategic level are welcome to apply. We are particularly keen to hear from people with expertise in finance, human resources, retail, strategic IT or business, especially involving strategic high level experience of a customer focussed business,

 

You don’t have to have knowledge or experience of running a hospice to be a Trustee Director – skills you have gained from other sectors or roles may be just as useful, and you can be sure that you will learn new skills as a member of our Board. If you are able to demonstrate the following characteristics, we would love to hear from you:

 

  • Strong networking capabilities that can be utilised for the benefit of the charity
  • Successful experience of operating within a board in a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation
  • Experience of building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to achieve organisational objectives
  • A strong and visible passion and commitment to the charity, its strategic objectives and cause
  • Commitment to the organisation and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
  • Good, independent judgement and strategic vision
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trustee Directorship

 

It’s an exciting time to be joining St Andrew’s as we have ambitious plans to extend our services. There are certainly plenty of challenges ahead as service demands rise and funding comes under increasing pressure whilst remaining focussed on a shared pursuit of excellence.
