Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders
It is a statutory requirement for all organisations that work with vulnerable individuals to undertake criminal records check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for people seeking work with children and vulnerable adults. St Andrew's Hospice undertakes a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for some positions within its organisation. If a DBS check is required, the requirement and level of check will be stated on the job advert. Should your application be shortlisted for interview and a DBS check is required, you will asked to complete a series of questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (exceptions order 1975) prior to interview. Whilst a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position with St Andrew’s Hospice, the relevance and seriousness of the circumstances must be fully considered before any decision to confirm a position is made. Further information can be found in the Employment of Ex-Offenders policy on our website or by email request to sahhrteam@nhs.net
