Local runner runs his first marathon for children's hospice

Once Charlie received his place in the marathon, he knew he wanted to support a children’s charity, and being local to the area, Charlie chose Andy’s as his charity of choice.

After months of dedication and training, he completed the marathon in three hours and 20 minutes and raised over £1,800 for the children’s hospice.

Reflecting on the experience, Charlie said: “I decided to run a marathon one for the experience and two for the sense of achievement completing it.”

Fundraising was simple, he explained: "I just set up a JustGiving page in the January and shared it on social media. And from there other people shared my link, like my parents and their friends.”

He added: "A lot of donations were from friends, family and colleagues”, who all wanted to support him in raising funds for Andy’s.

Feeling inspired? Our friendly fundraising team are always on hand to help with your fundraising efforts, wherever you want to run a marathon or fundraise in memory of a loved one. You can contact them at sahos.fundraising@nhs.net or call them on 01472 350908 and ask for the fundraising team.
