We provide free care, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week

At St Andrew’s Hospice, we care for and support people affected by life-limiting conditions or who are coming to the end of their life. You can come and go as you please, order takeaways, bring your pets - at St Andrew’s Hospice, it’s all about you.

Care ranges from overnight stays and respite, to outpatient visits and wellbeing programmes. We work closely with NHS healthcare professionals, providing services under one roof for those who need us.

Carol has been accessing hospice services for around 10 years, and describes it as her "lifeline"

Carol was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis aged 18, after experiencing symptoms since she was 15 years old. Despite her health problems, she pursued a career in nursing, qualifying in 1984 and working in private healthcare. After giving birth to her daughter, Carol opted for part-time work and supported her family at home.

Carol has been accessing hospice services for around 10 years. She initially began using the day unit before our rebuild, and now attends SHINE group twice a week, respite and physiotherapy.

After suffering a spinal haematoma around six years ago, which left her paralysed from the waist down, Carol is now dependent on her wheelchair, making it difficult for her to leave the house.

However, our wellbeing trips to Skegness Sea Sanctuary and Cleethorpes seafront have given Carol a sense of freedom. She said it is a real occasion when she can experience these trips and create lasting memories.

Describing St Andrew’s Hospice as her ‘lifeline’, Carol said: “It’s my chance to get out the house and meet new people. I love talking to people and as nice as my home is, my cat never answers me back! The hospice is a comfortable safe atmosphere and I love my respite ‘holidays’ here. The staff are outstanding.”
