Please read the updated visiting arrangements in light of the ongoing Coronavirus situation.

Please be aware that we have further updated our visiting arrangements in light of the ongoing Coronavirus situation. These changes will take place from Monday 29th June 2020.

Visitors and visitor timings

Patients are able to receive two visitors at a time, throughout the day.

All visitors must be over the age of 16, unless they are the child of the patient they are visiting.

Temperature testing

All visitors will be met at reception by a member of staff to have their temperature taken using a handheld temperature scanner.

Screening questions

All visitors will be asked screening questions, either by a registered nurse or nursing assistant wearing PPE.

Face coverings

All visitors are requested to bring a face covering with them and will be expected to wear this throughout their visit. Please be mindful to make sure your face covering fits you well and try not to touch it whilst you are wearing it.

The following groups of people are not requested to wear face coverings for their safety:

  • Children under the age of three
  • People with breathing difficulties
  • People who experience severe discomfort or distress while wearing a face covering e.g. those with severe claustrophobia
  • People with anatomical difficulties that would make wearing a face covering impossible or painful e.g. facial injuries

If you have not brought a face covering, one will be offered to you at the hospice.

If you are visiting a loved one who is known to be Covid positive, then the necessary PPE will be provided by St. Andrews Hospice.

Hand hygeine

All visitors will be asked to wash their hands or use hand gel either in reception or upon arrival at the unit. You will be asked to repeat this on leaving the unit and at any other time in-between that is necessary, i.e. using the toilet, having a drink.

Any requests to deviate from the above must be raised with the Nurse in Charge whose decision must be respected.

We would like to thank you for your support. We understand that this is a very difficult time for everyone. Your understanding and cooperation are helping us to protect your loved ones and our staff.  Thank you.
