Lymphoedema

Our specialist Lymphoedema Service is available to anyone within North East Lincolnshire who has secondary lymphoedema relating to a cancer diagnosis or progressive, life-limiting disease. It provides advice, support and treatment on an outpatient basis. However, on occasion, admission to the inpatient unit may be more beneficial if intensive treatment is required.

Treatment is delivered by specialist nurses and aims to improve quality of life, ease discomfort, enhance independence and help patients to understand and live with their condition, by reducing the swelling that occurs when the lymphatic system has been compromised. Treatment options can include bandaging, laser therapy and compression pumps, depending on individual needs.

You can refer yourself to the Lymphoedema Service, or, with your consent, a referral can be made by a family member, GP or health professional. Referrals can be made by ringing the hospice on 01472 350908 or by using the button at the bottom of this page.

After joining the service, you will have an initial assessment with a Specialist Lymphoedema Nurse, who will design a treatment plan to ensure you receive the therapy best suited to your individual needs. This will aim to minimise the symptoms you are currently experiencing and enable long-term self-management of your condition.
