Rob braved the shave for the hospice after losing his mum and friend to cancer

Rob Goring braved the shave to raise money for St Andrew's Hospice after seeing both his mum and friend Kayleigh receive support during their cancer battles.

The kindhearted fundraiser grew his hair out just so he could shave it off in aid of the hospice, who he said were a big "help and support" during his mum's illness.

“I had donated my hair before to The Little Princess Trust, which felt like a really nice thing to be able to do. I decided I wanted to do that again but said that this time, I’d raise money.

"My mum was at the hospice when she was alive, so I always said that if I did raise money, I would do it for St Andrew's Hospice. That's why I grew it out again, to be able to donate it and raise money to support the hospice."

Rob also sadly lost his friend Kayleigh to a very aggressive cancer. "She only had a very, very short battle, but came into the hospice for a little bit," he said. "She then decided she wanted to be at home, which St Andrew's arranged for her.

"Mum's was a slow growing one and just got to the point where it was no longer viable for treatment, so she came into the hospice for a little bit of help and support.

“St Andrew’s has always been close to me for those reasons, so I wanted to do something to be able to give back."
