The Senior Palliative Care Nurse role will support outreach into the community, working with the CCN teams, in reach into the acute hospitals, having a regular presence on wards, attending ward rounds and development of community hubs, building relationships with professionals, and raising awareness of all the services/support we can provide. This is an important step forward in the development of our services and this role is pivotal to this work.  

Therefore, we are looking for talented individuals who share our passion to improve the lives of children and young people with a variety of complex health conditions.

You will have excellent clinical skills, be a good communicator and strive to make a difference in creative and demonstrable ways.

As a Senior Palliative Care Nurse, it is essential that you hold a first or second level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and in addition, would be advantageous to possess post registration experience in a Children’s, community palliative care setting. Flexibility is essential as the working hours are based on the service need which includes days, weekends, 24 hour on call and the flexibility to work nights. As the care we provide is predominantly in the community, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who is passionate about providing excellent support to children and adults who have been bereaved to join our bereavement team.

As one of the local leading providers of palliative and end of life care, St Andrew’s Hospice is a highly successful and forward-thinking charity with a turnover of c£6.5m, offering both adult and children’s services. With an excellent reputation both in the local community and beyond, we reach over 800 patients and their families in North East Lincolnshire and our wider catchment area of Lincolnshire, Hull and East Yorkshire for our children’s services.

Our Bereavement Service provides specialist and therapeutic support and counselling to children, young people and adults, who have been bereaved through a death by any means, using individual, group and family techniques as appropriate. This service is continually growing and trying innovative ways to meet the needs of a diverse group of individuals.

As a Bereavement Support Caseworker, you will support the development and delivery of both adult and children’s/young people’s group work, drop-in sessions and coffee mornings across the locality as well as holding a small individual caseload.

You will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 counselling and have knowledge and skills in bereavement support or lived experience.
